Meteorology

Meteorologic measurements are fundamental to the NWRC's mission at Reynolds Creek Experimental Watershed and we have been at it for over 50 years. Air temperature and relative humidity are currently measured at nn sites, precipitation at nn sites, solar radiation at nn sites, and wind speed and/or direction at nn sites.

This graph reflects the raw data that has been collected and may sometimes go wildly off-scale. Real data does that sometimes. To zoom in the time scale hold the left mouse button down and drag across the region of interest. To select a smaller y-data range hold the left mouse button down inside the graphed data area and drag to the scale of interest. To pan through time hold the shift key down and the drag the mouse left or right while holding the left button down. Double click to return to full time scale. It's not as hard to do as it sounds but it may take some practice.

:!: There are two kinds of climate data available. There is a series of meteorology data that has been extensively checked and quality controlled so that all measurement time series are complete and without gaps once they have started. These data have been published and are made available as reference data sets to use in modelling and climate studies where serially complete time series are required. These data sets have been completed for RCEW sites through September 2008 and updated on an ad hoc basis. These model reference datasets can be accessed from our our ftp site and see tables below.

An alternate branch of datasets corrected to a lower level have been produced for all RCEW sites through September 2014. These data has been quality controlled to remove any obvious and non-controversial errors and have had date and time made serially complete. Missing data in measurement time series have not been replaced with an estimated value. These provisional datasets can be accessed from our our ftp site and see tables below. The provisional data sets updated annually within the first quarter of the following year.
